4th grade students used a small square shape in understanding geometric terms including 360 degrees.
A new shape was created by displacement, (cutting out a part and putting it on the opposite, parallel side.
Evidence that their new shape would interlock like a puzzle piece, (visually seeing this occur), allowed them to interlock the shape, repeat 6 times, and create new shapes within the interlocking shapes, tessellations.
